Our approach
A disciplined route from requirement to reliable software.
Stage 01
Discovery
Understand the problem before proposing the solution.
We start with your organisation, the problem to be solved and the outcome you need. We speak with the people involved, review existing systems and processes, and identify constraints, risks and dependencies early, while they are still inexpensive to address.
Activities
- Stakeholder conversations and process walkthroughs
- Review of existing systems, data and integrations
- Identification of constraints, risks and dependencies
Outcomes
- Problem definition
- Current-state review
- Initial risk register
Stage 02
Requirements
Clear, testable requirements, prioritised with you.
Requirements are written as clear, testable statements and prioritised with you, so the most valuable functionality is delivered first. Acceptance criteria define what “done” means for each one, and scope is agreed before commercial commitments are made.
Activities
- Functional and non-functional requirements
- Prioritisation against business value and risk
- Acceptance criteria for each requirement
Outcomes
- Prioritised requirements
- Acceptance criteria
- Agreed scope
Stage 03
Architecture
Sound decisions about structure, security and scale.
We design how the system fits together: data model, components, integrations, hosting, security and how it will scale. Significant decisions are recorded with their rationale, so the reasoning remains available long after the original decisions were made.
Activities
- Data modelling and system decomposition
- Integration, hosting and security design
- Architecture decision records
Outcomes
- Architecture overview
- Data model
- Integration design
Stage 04
Implementation
Working software, delivered in visible increments.
Development proceeds in short iterations, with working software demonstrated regularly so you can see progress and steer priorities. All code is version-controlled, tested and checked against consistent standards.
Activities
- Iterative development against prioritised requirements
- Regular demonstrations and progress reporting
- Version control and quality checks for every change
Outcomes
- Working increments
- Demonstrations
- Progress reporting
Stage 05
Testing
Confidence built in, not inspected in at the end.
Automated tests run throughout development, complemented by integration testing, security checks and user acceptance testing against the agreed criteria before anything is released.
Activities
- Automated unit and integration tests
- Security and dependency checks
- User acceptance testing support
Outcomes
- Automated test suites
- Acceptance sign-off
- Release readiness
Stage 06
Deployment
Repeatable releases and a controlled go-live.
Releases are automated and repeatable. We prepare secure environments, data migration, cutover and rollback plans, and support your team through go-live and the period that follows.
Activities
- Environment provisioning and release automation
- Data migration and cutover planning
- Go-live support and user onboarding
Outcomes
- Production environment
- Runbooks
- Handover documentation
Stage 07
Continued support
Software that keeps pace with your organisation.
After launch, an agreed support arrangement covers maintenance, monitoring, security updates and ongoing enhancement, so the software remains secure, supported and aligned with how you work.
Activities
- Maintenance and dependency updates
- Monitoring and incident response
- Managed enhancement backlog
Outcomes
- Support arrangement
- Enhancement roadmap
- Security updates
Working with us
How we work with you.
Technical quality matters, but so does the way a project is run. These commitments shape every engagement.
- 01Accountability
Clear ownership of delivery
You will know who is responsible for delivery, how decisions are made and how to raise anything that concerns you.
- 02Visibility
Risks raised early
Regular demonstrations of working software and honest progress reporting, with risks raised early rather than late.
- 03Advice
Candid recommendations
We recommend what your organisation actually needs, and we will say so when bespoke software is not the right answer.
- 04Commercials
Clarity before commitment
Engagements are scoped following discovery and technical assessment, with scope, deliverables and ownership set out in the project agreement.
- 05Knowledge
Nothing locked away
Documentation, decision records and handover are part of delivery, so your organisation keeps the knowledge, not just the code.
Start with a conversation.
Tell us about the problem you need to solve. We’ll discuss your objectives and constraints, and recommend a sensible first step, whether that is discovery, a technical assessment or something smaller.
